HGP Architects: L3 flight training centre
Near Gatwick Airport
Virtual Resolution has recently completed an interesting scheme with HGP Architects which was a bit of a first for us as we got the chance to play with some flight simulators!
The Hampshire-based architectural firm has been working on a project to design two purpose-built buildings at L3 Commercial Training Solutions’ flagship centre in London.
The site near Gatwick Airport houses the organisation’s global head office, and provides state-of-the-art flight training solutions using the latest innovative technology.
A 6,980m2 airline pilot training facility features eight commercial flight simulators with associated classrooms and briefing rooms. An adjacent 7,980m2 operations building has the capacity to manufacture 30 full flight simulators for worldwide distribution each year.
Virtual Resolution provided HGP Architects with a detailed exterior and interior animation alongside a series of CG images. The team used a series of different packages including 3Ds Max and V-Ray (an industry standard render engine which creates hyper-realistic images due to its advanced effects in features such as texture and lighting). Our work has been used to showcase the new facilities following completion of the development in December 2018.
CGI imagery is now such an important tool in the construction industry that it is used by a range of professionals from architects to interior designers, and site managers to marketing teams. It allows them to portray a realistic visualisation of their development, which can help with all stages of the planning, construction and promotion of a scheme.
The in-house creative artists at Virtual Resolution form an expert and highly-experienced team with skills in architectural, technical, interior and graphic imagery. We offer a range of architectural visualisation (arch vis) services, including 3D visualisation, walkthrough animation, virtual tours, rendering and CGI imagery.
HGP Architects has been working for nearly five decades on projects in the residential, commercial, retail, retirement living, regeneration and education sectors. One of their most well-known designs is the iconic Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth.
