Creating a virtual tour of a building that has been redeveloped, refurbished or built from scratch is a great way of showcasing all that it has to offer. It can be used as part of a sales and lettings promotion, give potential occupants a detailed preview, or simply serve as a record of the building’s development.

And the good news is, real world virtual tours have never been easier to create! Here at Virtual Resolution, we have a number of solutions that can be easily, quickly and cost-effectively applied to help you showcase and record your product.

We understand that there is little time for new homeowners to view houses, or that hotel guests are now wanting to experience a destination prior to booking. This is something that standard photography cannot do - but a VR experience can.

There are a few options to choose from when creating a virtual tour. Our services include:

  • Matterport Virtual Tours
  • Photographic 360 Tours
  • Video 360 Tours

Read on to take a look at each option in detail to help you decide which one is right for you.

Matterport Virtual Tour

This is a complete 3D representation of a real-world location created from 2D imagery and 3D data. Think Google Street View for interiors.

It not only allows you to create great tours, but it’s also cost-effective and very adaptable, allowing you to incorporate weblinks and information points.

This all-in-one solution is most popular within the property market but is also used by venues, hotels and restaurants, among others.

Here is an example of a Matterport Virtual Tour that our team created about a venue local to us: Bertie’s, Elland.

Photographic 360 Tour

This tour is made up of multiple images, usually taken with a specialist camera system. Each image is then stitched together to create a seamless 360 view experience.

This is the simplest form of VR, and the ability to view it on PCs and smart phones makes it a great option.

An example of our most recent Photographic 360 Tour is Yotel Boston.

Video 360 Tour

The next jump in complexity, a Video 360 tour is made up of multiple videos which are linked together to produce a spherical 360 degree viewing experience.

This kind of virtual tour provides a more immersive experience as the user is able to hear sound and voice while looking around a building or event. With Vimeo now hosting 360 video, it’s simple and easy to bring people right into your space.

Summary

All our tours are common within the tourist industry but there is huge potential in other industries, including in the marketing and planning processes for complete site developments.

Virtual tours have the unique ability of putting people within the space you want to promote, increasing engagement and creating new business. They are increasingly used within the online market, with social media platforms such as Facebook and YouTube adapting the technology.

All our tours can be perfectly displayed on a desktop and on mobile devices, including the use of interactive information points and navigation options. They can also be viewed through a VR headset, which allows them to be experienced in true VR form by projecting the images and creating a very real feeling of ‘being there’.

Whether it’s to showcase a finished project, shop, restaurant or bar, or if it’s to be used as a pre-or post-construction photographic record, Virtual Resolution can help create a virtual tour that’s perfect for you.

We remain dedicated to providing the highest quality service, while producing creative and innovative work that meets the ever growing demand for immersive 3D tours and VR.

We are also dedicated to remaining at the forefront of our industry, and a key priority for us is keeping up to date with the latest developments in VR. Just last November, our team travelled to the USA to visit Autodesk and see the latest techniques with 360 and Matterport.
