Two new 3D artists join our Elland studio
12 April 2019
Our business is growing – and so is our team! We are delighted to welcome two highly creative and experienced new 3D artists, Simon and Sharon, to our design studio.
Sharon joins Virtual Resolution as our new 3D artist. After studying animation at college, Sharon, a keen gamer, became interested in learning to make games of her own and decided to pursue a master’s degree in games design. It was during this time that she first learnt how to use 3ds Max to model detailed props and environments, and to use Unreal Engine to bring these environments to life. Shortly before her final year of university she was introduced to the world of arch vis and has never looked back.
For almost three years Sharon worked as a visualiser for a studio in Liverpool, where she first learnt to create compelling images and animations with V-Ray and Corona.
Sharon says: “I’m fascinated with new technology, and love to continuously learn new techniques in an industry which is always evolving.”
Simon has almost 15 years’ experience in CGI, and joins VR as a senior 3D artist. He started his career as a space planner for an office furniture company, doing all his 3D work in AutoCAD, having never heard of 3ds Max. But once he discovered Max, he began learning as much about it as he could and quickly found that he really enjoyed the mix of technical knowledge and artistic freedom it gave him. Three years after starting his role as a space planner, he progressed to lead visualiser for an architectural firm, working on multimillion pound projects across the UK.
Two years later, Simon decided to launch his own business. Initially based out of his home with an old gaming PC, he quickly outgrew out of the space and moved into his own office with a home built render farm using high-end rendering equipment and software.
Simon successfully ran his business for almost 10 years until he came to the decision that it was time to get back into a studio environment. He says: “I still love the mix between the technical know-how and the artistic freedom you get with working in CGI and this drives me to keep learning every day.”
Over the coming months Simon will be using his extensive experience to push the quality of VRs services and bring fresh thinking and new ideas to the team.
We are always looking for talented 3D artists to join our ambitious studio team. We’d love to hear from you – send your CV to email@example.com
